Elastin

Elastin is a protein that gives elasticity and firmness to skin. Human body naturally contains elastin and its concentration gradually decreases after the age of twenty. Factors such as poor diet, lack of physical activity, excessive sun exposure, smoking and others can also contribute to the loss of elastin. A lack of elastin can lead to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, less flexible skin, and increased skin sensitivity to UV rays. Vitamins C and E are important for preserving elastin. Additionally, cosmetic products containing hyaluronic acid, retinol and peptides can stimulate elastin production in the skin.
