Aloe Vera is an extremely medicinal plant whose nutritious properties have been used for centuries for both care and healing. Due to its specific appearance, many classify it as a cactus, but it belongs to the lily family. It naturally grows in areas with a warm and dry climate. The most used part of the plant is the gel, which is located under the rough and thick peel of its leaves, which many call the "elixir of life". The gel is rich in vitamins A, C, and E which are natural antioxidants that slow down skin ageing and the formation of wrinkles. It also contains B complex vitamins (mostly B12 and folic acid) important for skin health. The enzymes it possesses reduce inflammatory processes, and minerals (selenium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, sodium, zinc, and chromium) have a beneficial effect on dry skin.
Aloe Vera has a significant amount of sugars, monosaccharides, and polysaccharides that nourish the skin, while salicylic acid reduces the appearance of acne, spots, and excess sebum. It provides the skin with the necessary moisture.
